Question 1

Does it cost anything to enter?

Accepted Answer

No. There is no entry fee and nothing to buy — no ticket, no package, no purchase is required to compete or to win. Dancehall Pop Up is a strict Game of Skill, not a competition you pay your way into.

Question 2

Who can register to clash?

Accepted Answer

Every artist must be 18 years of age or older at the time of registration, and must be ready to show a valid Jamaican government-issued photo ID on request — TRN, National ID, Passport or Driver's License. The ID is used to verify who you are and to release prizes.

Question 3

How do I lock in one of the 20 slots?

Accepted Answer

Registration opens at 10:00 AM Jamaica time on the morning of the pop-up and runs strictly first-come, first-served. Only the first 20 artists fully processed by event staff receive a ticket to perform, and the roster closes the moment those 20 are in. Anyone still waiting in line when the 20 are filled cannot be entered — the organizers carry no responsibility for missed slots.

Question 4

When do the pop-ups happen?

Accepted Answer

Season 01 runs across 2027. Each stop's exact date is still being locked in and shows as TBD 2027 on its page until it is confirmed; when a date drops, the 10:00 AM registration window for that morning drops with it. Check the community page for the stop you want before you line up.

Question 5

Can I sign straight up for the Kingston Grand Finale?

Accepted Answer

No. The Grand Finale in Kingston is not open to public registration — it is for the winners who come through the eight qualifying stops. Your route to that stage is to claim a qualifying stop.

Question 6

What can I actually say on stage?

Accepted Answer

Lyrical confrontation, clashing and competitive 'war' elements are core to Dancehall and are fully permitted on mic. What is not permitted is physical conduct: physical violence, brandishing weapons, direct threats of physical harm, inciting crowd violence, or destroying property.

Question 7

What happens if I cross that line?

Accepted Answer

Any of the physical conduct above brings immediate disqualification. A disqualified artist instantly forfeits all tournament points, standing positions, and eligibility for any portion of the $20,000 USD Grand Prize.

Question 8

How is a clash decided?

Accepted Answer

A panel of appointed judges decides every clash. Each artist is scored on performance merit only — vocal ability, crowd response, lyrical dexterity and stage control — and the judges' ruling is final and binding. Vocal ability; Crowd response; Lyrical dexterity; Stage control.

Question 9

Is this a bet or a lottery?

Accepted Answer

No. The tournament is classified as a strict Game of Skill judged on merit, not a game of chance, and does not constitute gambling or a lottery under the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Act of Jamaica.

Question 10

Do you film the clash?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Registering, stepping on stage, or attending gives the organizers a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to record, film, photograph, livestream and broadcast your performance, voice, name and likeness for marketing, monetization, website content and promotion across any platform, with no further compensation.

Question 11

What's on the line?

Accepted Answer

Each qualifying stop plays out for a $1,000 USD community winner, and every point you score feeds the standings toward the $20,000 USD Grand Prize. Scores are posted on the public standings page as they are called.

Question 12

Does every stop guarantee cash?

Accepted Answer

The $20,000 USD Grand Prize goes exclusively to the single Season Champion crowned at the Kingston Grand Finale. Milestone and qualifying stops do not guarantee a cash payout unless the organizers expressly state it for that stop — and a $1,000 USD community winner is announced only where it has been stated.

Question 13

Who handles tax on a win?

Accepted Answer

The winner is solely responsible for any applicable local Jamaican taxes or banking fees attached to receiving the cash transfer or payout.

Question 14

What's the road through the season?

Accepted Answer

Eight qualifying stops, then the Grand Finale — 9 dates in all: 01 · Portmore; 02 · Montego Bay; 03 · Ocho Rios; 04 · Yallahs; 05 · May Pen; 06 · Spanish Town; 07 · Negril; 08 · Mandeville; 09 · Kingston.

Question 15

Who sees my phone number and email?

Accepted Answer

Only the organizers. Your phone number and email stay behind the admin side; the public pages and standings show your stage name, your community and your score.
